Bizprov, Inc.

Join us for a three-part experiential workshop exclusively for Fordham University Graduate School of Business that will supercharge your leadership skills. Jay Rhoderick and GBA Alum Chip Garner of Bizprov, Inc. will show you how to harness the dynamic techniques of improvisational theater - trust, risk-taking, spontaneity, rapid ideation, collaboration and active engagement - to the science of business management and build a powerful platform for creative problem solving, trust-building, teamwork and better communication.

Leadership today requires innovative thinking, bold initiation and collaborative creativity. And true leaders not only embody these essential skills, they encourage and develop them in their managers and teams. In this challenging business climate, these “leaders of leaders” also need tools to embrace uncertainty and exploit change as opportunity. But how do today’s leaders create a culture of affirmation and support, while also demanding boldness and experimentation?  Improvisation is the key!

Improv is the art of acting and reacting without a rigid plan, exploring without judgment and discovering creative solutions to unanticipated challenges. It encourages risk-taking and rewards discovery. When you improvise in the workplace, you jump in with both feet, promote innovative ideas, make decisions with confidence, defuse conflict, react nimbly to surprises - and have fun!

This dynamic workshop series provides creative approaches to enhancing leadership skills while working within challenging business environments. Starting October 4, participants in IMPROVISATIONAL MBA will learn how to:

  • Quickly build relationships and alignment through strategic collaboration.
  • Increase focus, perform under pressure and improve “in the moment” decision-making.
  • Overcome blocks to creative thinking and turn risk and failure into growth opportunities.
  • Manage organizational change effectively through clear and open communication.
  • Create dynamic presentations and actively engage audiences using story techniques

Each of the three workshops will focus on a specific set of business skills and will build sequentially. Sessions may be taken individually or, for maximum benefit, as a suite.

Workshop 1: Collaboration & Alignment—In this first session, we lay the groundwork for everything else—how to use improvisational awareness and interactions to build a culture and protocol of integrated teamwork and focus.

Workshop 2: Communication & Clarity—We explore how leaders can use improv techniques to powerfully communicate core ideas and goals so as to maximize productivity and buy-in from staff, managers, and customers.

Workshop 3: Creativity & Innovation—Here we fully engage the imagination and vision, and learn to tap into group power to promote an unrestricted flow of ideas, make creative leaps, and innovatively leverage available resources.

These highly interactive workshops are being held exclusively at Fordham University Graduate School of Business and are appropriate for alumni of all professional levels and industries. Four spots in each session are reserved for current GBA students.

Cost: Workshops are $50 each or $125 for the suite of three.

Dates: Workshop are held on October 4, November 8 and December 13, 2010 from 6pm to 9 pm.

Location: Lowenstein Center, 12th-floor Lounge, except October 4, which is in McMahon, Room 109

Participants who take all three workshops will receive a comprehensive assessment of their strengths and challenges, and access to Bizprov’s members-only website for continuing consultation and training.

Workshops are limited to 20 participants (four spots are reserved for current students). Register today!
